When in Jerusalem, one of the most authentic and meaningful biblical sites to visit for a time of meditation, prayer and praise fellowship is the Mount of Olives. We know that the presence of God is within us and everywhere that is sanctified unto Him. But there is a significance also to the places that evidence biblical occurrence and biblical prophecy. The pilgrim and tourist who comes to Israel also “comes home” to his biblical homeland and enters as well into a prophetic connection. Coming into the Holy Land also enhances spiritual prayer connection. These are prayers of thanksgiving and honor to the Holy One who dwells in Zion; prayers for spiritual aspirations; prayers for loved ones; prayers for the church and for the community of nations; and prayers for peace for Israel. They may be prayers for the establishment of Jerusalem as the capital city of the coming King. They may be prayers calling on the love of Messiah to touch the precious people of the Middle East with His great love, hope, peace and blessings. They may be prayers that cry out, “Come, Messiah, Come!”

Unity Prayer Center replaces Prayer Tent

A new season for the Jerusalem East Gate Foundation's prayer watch ministry at the Mount of Olives has begun. And with it came the setting up of the Unity Prayer Center,a prayer facility located directly in front of the Temple Mount, East Gate (Golden Gate) and the Old City of Jerusalem. Like the Mount of Olives Prayer Tent that it has come to replace, the prayer house is located at the grounds of the Hotel Seven Arches and stands alongside the grounds of the Pater Noster, the traditional site where it is said Christ taught the disciples the Lord's Prayer.

Research of ancient written materials indicate that the area where the prayer house stands was the place that was commemorated as the one where Christ taught the disciples about the fight between good and evil. As revealed in the Bible, the Mount of Olives is where Christ will return come the time of the Millennial Kingdom. As such, prophetic prayer, praise, proclamation and reading of the prophetic word is a focus at the new prayer center.

Across the prayer house is the observation point where tourists are afforded the best and most breathtaking panoramic view of the biblical city of Jerusalem. Formally opened on March 2010, the prayer house is named Unity Prayer Center. It was established in partnership with Agape Renewal Ministry, a Los Angeles based Chinese Christian parachurch organization that shares the facility's vision and helped finance its renovation. ARM has a broad network of Chinese Christian churches and ministries in the US, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Europe. It is headed by Rev. Ernest Chan and his wife Stella who also spearhead Christian colleges in the US and in various countries.

The goal of Unity Prayer Center is to provide a prayer facility for Christian intercessors and watchmen for Israel and the nations at the most special prayer mountain in the world, the Mount of Olives, where Christ Himself prayed towards the Holy of Holies of the Holy Temple. It is hoped that a 24-hour prayer watch participated in by all nations can be set up at the site, hence the name Unity Prayer Center.

The initial stages towards a global web prayer network is being undertaken by ARM while plans for a 24-hour live praise and worship JEGF-KAF broadcast center are upheld in prayers. JEGF-KAF has maintained it prayer, praise and preaching and tour ministry based on the Mount of Olives since June 2002. Weekly Saturday night services and weekly Sunday morning prayer gatherings are held at the prayer house. Visiting intercessors are afforded a conducive indoor and garden area for prayer time at the Mount of Olives.

JEGF-KAF undertakes the administration, daily operations, legal overseeing and operational funding of the facility. JEGF-KAF Chairperson Marisa Albert, who has resided at the Mount of Olives for nine years, is the facility's onsite administrator.
